1942 RARE Rupert Bear Annual

The ultimate annual and oh so rare and to find a copy in FINE + CONDITION it leaves you breathless. The soft pictorial covers, the first due to wartime restrictions, the colours are bright and bold, just a touch of light fox to the rear cover, a tiny touch of rub right to the edges, but the corners are nice and square with just a touch of thumbing to the bottom right corner. The spine is full and complete with a touch of rub to the top and tail and a tiny 1 cm split to the tail but holding firm where the front cover meets the spine. The sides of the spine have very slight surface rub, still nice and square. Internally just to dream of and this annual really excel’s for although there is a name in the belongs to box in a very neat child’s hand “Michael Northcott South Road Taunton” and when you open the front cover the the front cover glue has dried and you can see the staples, but the rest is like new. The pages are so stiff and crisp and the binding firm and tight I had a hard job taking the photo’s. The colours so vibrant and bold and the pages clean. I doubt that this annual has been opened more than half a dozen times in the last nearly 70 years. The rarest of all the Rupert annuals and one to dream of.

The illustrated paper covered board covers are stunningly clean and bright with just a hint of edge rub, the corners just a touch of bump and wear, the spine full and complete, well defined with just a breath of bump to the top and tail. Inside there is a neat inscription in a child’s hand “Anne Shotter 34 macArthur Cres. Bitterne. Southamptom”, it has been price clipped. Stunningly clean and gleaming white pages, even the edges, none of the puzzles or competitions have been touched, the pages firm to the touch and sound to the tight binding.
